Censorship Resistance
Also known as: Uncensorable Transactions, Permissionless Access, Transaction Freedom
A blockchain property that ensures no entity can prevent valid transactions from being broadcast or included in blocks.
Censorship resistance is a foundational principle of blockchain networks that guarantees all valid transactions can be submitted, propagated, and confirmed without the risk of arbitrary exclusion. It protects users from being blocked by central authorities, validators, or miners. This property is critical for maintaining decentralization, financial freedom, and trustlessness. Mechanisms such as decentralized consensus, peer-to-peer networking, and open participation help enforce censorship resistance. However, threats like OFAC compliance, relay filtering, and validator collusion pose ongoing risks to this principle.
